Held every 18 months, and hosted by one of the founding associations, the International Roundtable on Automotive Recycling (IRT) brings the peak national associations together to discuss the ever-changing world of auto recycling. Past events have been a catalyst for the global recyclers to share information about emerging technical and regulatory trends, business opportunities, and to showcase local and industry best practices.
The IRT organizing associations include the Asociacion Andaluza de Desguaces (AAD), Automotive Recyclers of Canada (ARC), the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA), the Automotive Recyclers Association of Australia (ARAA), the European Group of Automotive Recycling Association (EGARA), the Japan Automotive Recycling Association (JARA), the Auto Parts Recyclers Association of Australia (APRAA), and the Malaysian Automotive Recycling Association (MAARA).
These associations have been joined on occasion by delegates from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the Alliance of Auto Recovery Technology Innovation of China (AARTI), the Korea Automotive Recyclers Association (KARA), the Malaysia Used Vehicle Autoparts Traders Association (MUVATA), and the Vehicle Recyclers Association (VRA).
The IRT is not an association per se, but rather a movement to bring national and regional associations focussed on auto recycling together to discuss common problems and opportunities and see if there are common solutions to the problems and opportunities that do or could exist.
In 2014, the IRT developed the Kushiro Declaration as a culmination of the various inputs and remains a guiding document to the IRT and to auto recyclers everywhere.
Previous IRT’s have been held in Brussels, Belgium; Las Vegas, USA; Tokyo, Japan; Coffs Harbour, Australia; Quebec City, Canada; Liverpool, England; Phoenix, USA; Kushiro, Japan; Malacca, Malaysia; Niagara Falls, Canada and Norfolk, England.
